Internet usage to indicate depression?

In a research to shed some light on the association between Internet usage and depression, findings have indicated the existence of a specific pattern in depressed individuals.
One of the more striking findings about this study is the randomness in Internet usage of depressed students. Students who display this tend to switch between applications more, which the researcher attributes to the lack of concentration.
While such a finding might lend itself to applications which could potentially alert concerned parties about an individual’s state, it is of wonder if there might be other factors involved. Let’s say, a multi-tasking trait? What do you think?
